Heifer Crowned with Flowers

Of old the Heifer crownd with flowers

In Pagan rites was led

A [vic]tim to unhallow’d Pow’rs

And on their Altar bled

But to Affections Altar now

Are [purer] Off’rings given

For Lovers breathe the Holy vow,

Beneath the Eye of Heav’n

And those who hope for wedded Joys

Shall best their vows fulfill

By learning each to sacrifice
