Tollgate

Tollgate

How like you Sir your present state?

Assign’d to keep the Turnpike Gate?

Well guarded by your watchful Eye

No fair will pass unheeded bye;

The Gate is yours, and you may say

What Toll the Travellers shall pay:

From some you’ll ask a smile perchance,

From some a compliment or Glance

And blest the fair if you Demand,

Exact, as Toll, her Heart and Hand._
