In favor of votes for women, part of an address delivered before the Just Government League of Maryland by Howard A. Kelly, M. D.

Subject

Suffrage

Description

Pamphlet titled "In Favor of Votes for Women" written about 1910 by Howard A. Kelly, M. D., believed to have been delivered to a group of suffragists under the auspices of the Just Government League of Maryland on November 21, 1910. (Editor's note: Although no date is given for the printing of this pamphlet, Dr. Kelly is reported to have spoken to a gathering of suffragists on November 21, 1910. Also, on page 3 of the pamphlet Dr. Kelly mentions the election of Judge Lindsey in Denver, Colorado in the previous year. In late 1908, Judge Lindsey is reported to have run without the support of either the Republican or the Democratic party and won the election for judge of the juvenile court because of the strong support of women voters (Colorado women already had the right to vote). Thus it is thought this speech was made in 1910.)
