Description
As the second Director of the Nursing Bureau of the League of Red Cross Societies in Geneva, Katherine Olmsted continued Alice Fitzgerald's work of organizing local nursing schools and public health nursing services according to American nursing standards in Poland, Czechoslovakia, Romania, Hungary, Yugoslavia, Norway, Estonia, and Latvia. This Norwegian medal is a White enamel Greek cross with a smaller red enamel Greek cross inset on the front; reverse features the Norwegian coat of arms inset in metal and filled with light red enamel; suspended from a white ribbon with red edges and blue edge stripes; attached at the suspension ring is a green enamel laurel wreath.
